When you are ready to build your listening event, the first step is to create and save your event framework. Once the framework is created, you can proceed directly to building your content or you can come back at a later time to work on content and other details of the event.
If Perceptyx has loaded your organization’s Business and Talent Priorities into the platform, you will be prompted to optionally choose the priority you want to address and then choose the type of listening event. The platform presents recommendations based on your business priorities to help you build the most effective event for your purposes. You can choose to build your event without completing this step.
You can create a new listening event from a template, an existing event, or from scratch. Once you select your method, the main Event Builder workspace opens, you complete a few initial settings, and click Next: Content to save your new event and advance to the Content phase.
This article walks through:

- Complete the Overview Page
- Create an Event from a Template

- Create a New Event from Scratch
Access the Event Builder
You access the Event Builder from the Listen platform page. Simply click Create New Listening Event, optionally select a Business and Talent Priority, select an event type, and then choose whether to use a template, clone an existing event, or create an event from the ground up. At this point, the main Event Builder workspace becomes available.
Navigate to the Listen page.
Click Create New Listening Event (top right).
The Business and Talent Priority page appears.
Note: If your organization is not contracted for any Perceptyx-led listening events, your Customer Success Manager can assist with loading Business and Talent Priorities, if you have created them, into the platform.
Note: If you don’t want to select a Business and Talent Priority, click Create an event outside of these Business and Talent Priorities at the bottom of the page.
Click the priority you want to work on and then click Next.
The Listening Type page appears.
Click the type of listening event you want to use (Point in Time or Lifecycle) and then click Start Building (bottom right).
Options for creating the event appear.
Click Browse for the method you want to use to create the event and follow the onscreen prompts to create an event from a template, from an existing event, or from scratch.
Each option brings you to the Overview page. Once you complete the Overview page, your event is created and you can proceed to build content or come back to it at a later time.
Complete the Overview Page
Whether you choose to use a template, clone an event, or create a new event from scratch, you need to complete the Overview page to create your event framework and save it on the platform.
The top of the page includes options to change your selected Business and Talent Priority and your selected event template (if applicable). You can change these selections before or after creating the event.
The rest of the page contains the information needed to create the event.
Complete the required (*) fields on the Overview page:
Event Name*: Give your event a title.
Event Description*: Add notes about your event.
Note: Event participants cannot see this information.
Event Languages: Select any of our 34 available languages (in addition to English). This field is not required unless you want your event available in multiple languages.
Event ID*: Specify a unique value to identify your event.
Note: The Event ID, which has a 30 character limit, becomes part of your event URL and cannot be edited after you create the event. This information is not visible to event participants; it is for Perceptyx internal use only.
Click Next: Content (bottom right).
A confirmation message appears.
Click Confirm.
The event is created and the Event Builder displays the Content page. You can progress through the Content phase or exit and build the content at another time. If you want to exit the Event Builder, click Save and Exit. The Listen page appears with your new event added in Draft mode.
Create an Event from a Template
You can quickly create an event using Perceptyx templates or templates your Administrator creates. Each template has predefined settings, categories, questions, response scales, and options. You can modify them as needed in the Content phase to suit your specific objectives.
Perceptyx provides 62 pre-built Point-In-Time survey templates developed by our Workforce Transformation team. These templates include concise topic areas, deep dives, and multi-topic options aligned to the Business & Talent Priorities. The Business & Talent Priority you select determines which Perceptyx templates you see. You can view all the available templates by not selecting a Business & Talent Priority.
Access the Event Builder.

Click the priority you want to work on and then click Next.
