Template Library

The Template Library is a central location for all templates available to Administrators and Creators. These templates include both pre-designed Perceptyx templates and templates you create. Use the pre-designed templates to quickly build and launch programs, or add your personalized templates.


Note: Administrator users can view, edit, clone, and delete templates and make templates active or inactive for other users. Creator users can use any active template to create a new listening event.


Note: The Template Library is available only for customers with Program Builder (self-service).


This article walks through:




Access Template Library

You can access the Template Library from the left navigation of the Program Builder (self-service).


  1. Navigate to the Program Builder.

    1. Navigate to the Surveys page and select +Build New Survey.

The Program Builder Wizard displays. You must exit to access the Program Builder main navigation.

  1. Select Exit.

       2. Hover over the left navigation bar and select Template Library.

Note: You can also access the Template Library from within the My Surveys page.

           The Template Library page displays.


The Template Library displays all available templates in a table that indicates the template type and name, its category (Safety, Change Management, etc.), the number of questions in it, and whether it is currently active. The Start Building option (available for active templates only) starts the survey build process using the template. The gear icon lets you complete different tasks depending on whether the template is active: Active (view, clone, make available) and Inactive (edit and delete). 


Search for Templates

Use the Search box to quickly find specific templates by name or category.


  1. Click the Search box.

  2. Type a name or category, then press Enter.


View a Template

You can click through a template to view its options. The template must be active before you can view it.


  1. If necessary, turn on the Active toggle for the template.

  2. Click the gear icon, then select View Template.

  3. Click through each survey build phase to view the predefined options.

  4. Click Exit.


Clone a Template

If you want to create a new template and an existing template already has many of the options you want to include, you can save time by cloning and editing the existing template. The template must be active before you can clone it.


  1. If necessary, turn on the Active toggle for the template.

  2. Click the gear icon, then select Clone.

The Clone Survey From (Template Name) dialog box appears.



  1. Type an AppID for the template, then click Clone.


Edit a Template

  1. If necessary, turn off the Active toggle for the template.

  2. Click the gear icon, then select Edit Template.

The template opens.

  1. Make your changes, then click Update (lower right).

  2. Click Proceed to Publish.

  3. Click Save as Draft or Publish Template, as appropriate.


Delete a Template

  1. If necessary, turn off the Active toggle for the template.

  2. Click the gear icon, then select Delete.

A confirmation box appears.

  1. Click Confirm.


Make a Template Available to All Admin and Creator Users

  1. If you have edited the template, make sure it has been published.

  2. Turn on the Active toggle for the template.
