Recognition & Reward

Purpose:
Create space to talk openly about how contributions are recognized and rewarded, so we can make sure appreciation is aligned with what matters most to the team.

Sample Discussion Questions:

Recognition

  • What kind of recognition has felt most meaningful to you, here or at another job?

  • How often do you feel your work is seen and acknowledged?

  • Where might we be overlooking contributions that deserve more recognition?

  • What stories or moments from the past few months are worth celebrating more?

Pay

  • What would help make our approach to compensation easier to understand?

  • How well do we connect performance expectations and feedback to development and compensation conversations?

  • What would make conversations about pay or total rewards feel more open, respectful, and useful?

Benefits

  • Are there programs or perks that feel underused or unclear?

  • How can we better share tips, or knowledge about benefits across the team?

  • Beyond base pay, what parts of our total rewards (e.g., benefits, flexibility, time off) feel most valuable, and how can we talk about those more openly?

Feeling Valued

  • What helps you feel like you and your work are genuinely valued?

  • How well do we connect everyday contributions to bigger outcomes or impact?

  • What could we do more of to show people they’re valued not just for output, but as individuals?

1, 2, 3 Action Planning

  1. What’s one thing we could do as a team or that I could do as a manager to help everyone feel more recognized and valued?

  2. What two commitments can we make to achieve this?

  3. What three dates should we plan to follow up?
