Engagement

Purpose:
Create open dialogue around what’s fueling (or draining) engagement on our team so we can better support motivation, retention, pride, and advocacy together.

Sample Discussion Questions:

Advocacy

  • What would we say to a friend who asked, “What’s it like to work here?”

  • Where do our internal experiences match (or mismatch) how the company presents itself externally?

  • What makes us feel proud to recommend our team or organization?

  • What team moments, stories, or symbols inspire pride or loyalty?

Retention

  • What makes a work environment feel like a place worth staying? How close are we to that today?

  • When people choose to stay on a team long-term, what conditions usually make that possible?

  • How do we show people they can grow their careers here?

Motivation

  • What practices help us stay motivated, especially when things get tough?

  • What parts of our work feel energizing; and what parts feel draining?

  • How often do we talk about goals in a way that feels meaningful?

  • What drives this team most—purpose, achievement, recognition, autonomy, or something else?

Pride

  • How do we celebrate success (big or small) as a team?

  • How do we make people feel that their contributions matter?

  • Where do we see pride showing up in how we serve customers or collaborate?

1, 2, 3 Action Planning

  1. What’s one thing we can do to improve our engagement as a team?

  2. What two commitments can we make to achieve this?

  3. What three dates should we plan to follow up?
