Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging

Purpose:
Create space for honest team dialogue about how we experience diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB)—and identify practical ways to grow together.

Sample Discussion Questions:

Belonging

  • How do we show that different roles and backgrounds are valued here?

  • What behaviors help team members feel psychologically safe to speak up?

  • What unspoken norms might unintentionally exclude others?

  • How do we help new team members feel welcomed and connected?

Equity

  • Where do we see (or not see) fairness in how opportunities, recognition, and decisions are handled?

  • What systems or habits might unintentionally favor some over others?

  • What are we doing, or could we do, to remove barriers to access or advancement?

Diversity

  • How often are we exposed to different perspectives in our work?

  • What structures (e.g., brainstorming methods, decision protocols) help surface a wider range of ideas?

  • Where might we be unintentionally rewarding conformity over healthy dissent?

Inclusion

  • How safe does everyone feel contributing ideas regardless of identity, title, or tenure?

  • How inclusive are our meetings, team norms, and communication styles?

  • How do we gather input from all voices and act on it meaningfully?

1, 2, 3 Action Planning

  1. Based on what we’ve shared, what’s one meaningful change we can make together to create a more inclusive, equitable, and connected team?

  2. What two commitments can we make to achieve this?

  3. What three dates should we plan to follow up?
