Use Comment Analysis

Modified on Sun, 7 Jul at 8:23 AM

The Comment Analysis tool in Analytics Studio puts our AI-powered theme, sentiment, and intent analytics models at your fingertips to help you discover actionable insights from the often vast amount of comment data. You can efficiently analyze your data and apply filters to identify recurring themes in comments and understand the sentiments and intents behind them.

Note: Analytics Studio is available for Administrator and Creator users only.

Note: Depending on purchased features, the Comment Analysis tool may also include Comment Copilot, which leverages the power of OpenAI to summarize key sentiments, victories, challenges, and areas for improvement, helping you to effectively focus your action planning process. For more information see the Use Comment Copilot article.

This article walks through:

Comment Analysis Overview

The Comment Analysis workspace is divided into four main sections:

  • Question List: Select the survey question for which you want to view and analyze comment data.

  • Themes List: View the number of comments and percentage of comments tied to each theme associated with the selected question.

  • Theme Detail: View theme details, including a breakdown of percentages by intent and sentiment, the top five subthemes, or a word cloud. If enabled, this section also includes Comment Copilot, which summarizes comments in four different categories.

  • Themed Comments: View verbatim comments by theme and filter them by intent, sentiment, or subtheme.

Filter Themed Comments

You can easily filter the Themed Comments section by intents breakdown, sentiment breakdown, or subtheme. Filtering this way helps you narrow the scope of the comments to respondents who expressed specific intents (e.g., needs and concerns), specific sentiments (positive, neutral, or negative), or one of the top five subthemes.

Applied filters are displayed at the top of the Themed Comments section. You can remove a filter by clicking X.

  1. Filter by:

    1. Intents Breakdown: Click the segment of the Intents Breakdown pie chart by which you want to filter.

The Themed Comments section updates to show only the comments associated with the selected intent.

  1. Sentiment Breakdown: Click the segment of the Sentiment Breakdown pie chart by which you want to filter.

The Themed Comments section updates to show only the comments associated with the selected sentiment.

  1. Subtheme: In the Top 5 Subthemes section, click the subtheme by which you want to filter.

The Themed Comments section updates to show only the comments associated with the selected subtheme.

View a Word Cloud

  1. In the Theme Details section, click Word Cloud.

A word cloud for the selected theme displays, color-coded to show sentiment.

  1. Click a word or phrase in the word cloud to display its associated comments in the Themed Comments section.
